Bench Redo By Handsome Man

Hello my dears,
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. It has been a BUSY weekend.
1/3 way finished with the stairs. That is taking way longer than expected.
Made a couple of trays. Pictures on that later.
Took the doors off some cabinets in the kitchen.

But first, introducing a piece done by Handsome Man!

Handsome Man found this bench at out local garage sale called Garage Brothers. If you haven't been it is a hoarders heaven. They clean out garages and attics for free. Get rid of stuff that person doesn't want and sells it to the public. Most of their profits go to local charities.

Beautiful isn't it? ;-)   (AAAACCCKKK)
We paid $25 for this antique toy chest.

There was no stripping this piece. Whatever type of paint was on it, was not coming off! He tried sanding it and it came off in powder, black dust everywhere. Lucky for me he was outside and I was inside working in the garage!

Lots of oil-based Kilz later and some Creamy White semi-gloss paint that I picked up at Walmart.

Scrapped all the paint off the hinges and sprayed them with some ORB paint. Yummy!

Don't you just love the pillow with it? Too bad it didn't match anything in my house.

Until Next time,
Hugs,

Blue Blue Bathroom

Hello My dears,
I hope you all are having a wonderful day.

Well since I have shown you my master bathroom and what I am attempting to do there, I thought I should show you my half bath.

Handsome Man and I decided to only paint one wall to see if we liked the color - Olympic Blue Silk.

Horrible picture... sorry... point and shoot camera. :(
These pictures do not do the color any justice. It is a silvery blue.

Our next project in here is to do some board and batten.

I think the mirror is going to get a redo too.
yes, that is me trying to get a full picture.

Should I paint it black to match the pictures? Or should I do it white to go with the board and batten. And also the cabinet needs to be redone.
Well that is just adding to my ever growing list of projects.
At least I am busy. ;-)

Until next time,
Hugs,

Linking up Today!

Hello my dears,

I am linking up over at Kristin's Place today!

Photobucket

This lady has some fabulous ideas and a beautiful house to boot!

I have also been working on my master bathroom window as it is paned frosted glass. I think the neighbors were getting a profile view of me and Handsome man everytime we stepped out of the shower.

I went to my local Flea Market and found some old shutters for $2 a pair. I bought 2, not measuring them, only wanted them.
We lived like the above picture for about 4 months until I found the perfect material for a curtain at Joann's. grays and blue and silver... LOVE IT!

Last night I got a bug up my *** and decided to do some crafting. I had 5 rolls of ribbon that I got out of the Michael's clearance section and a foam wreath from the dollar store. Rosette from a loved tshirt.
sorry the picture is bad. Took it at night in HORRIBLE lighting.
Voila one of those funky, scrappy wreaths for my bathroom. I love how all the blues go together. And I didn't even plan that when I bought the ribbon. ;-)

Until next time,
Hugs

Rainy Rainy Sunday

Here it is Sunday Afternoon, rainy dreary and not able to do my stairs as the little one can't go outside to play.
Listening to some Adele and some new Indie Rock that Lizard is introducing me too. Has any listened to 'The Black Keys'? Awesome!

Today is Mack's birthday. 15 years old and such a sweet emotional girl. Cares soo much about everyone and would give you the shirt off her back.
i do believe that is my fat buttt in the background.
She has requested my special bbq ribs for dinner with mashed potatoes.

Last night, Handsome Man and I got a wild hair up and decided to put up an old mantel in the living for knick knacks or pictures. It was going above the front door, but it just didn't look right.
Soooo, I thought What about behind the couch?? We needed something back there as it was sooo bland.

AND OF COURSE I CAN'T FIND A BEFORE PICTURE!

So cozy now!

See the mantel?
No?

HAHA hidden... now a place for MonkeyMan and the cats to hide.

Now Paint color? We are installing wainscotting or board and batten in here.
But you know me and paint colors... TOOO MANY DECISIONS!

Well until next time,
Hugs

GONE baby Gone Part 2

Hello my dears,

FINALLY I have done some more work on the stairs.

Sanding, filling holes and caulking has been completed.

A lot of bending over has made my lower start to scream at me. And yes these stairs are loooking mighty ugly right now, but it will be beautiful when I am finished. Whenever that may be ;-)

P.S. I have 5 followers now! Wooot and 2 are from blogland that I read.

And finally got a good picture of Handsome Man and his kitty, Murphy. She is very skiddish and hates to be picked up.

Until next time,
Hugs

Odds and Ends and the sickies

Hello my dears,

For the past 2 days I have been home with Monkey Man, who has not been feeling well with a sore throat and running nose. Ran out of medicine yesterday and in the POURING rain had to make a trip to the local pharmacy, I was driving to wally world (WALMART) before I realized that it was just too dark and scary to drive 5 miles.
Of course all of the V-Day candy was on clearance, the medicine trip turned into Medicine, bobby pins ( becuz you can't have too many of those when you have two teenage girls) and candy. All in all, $12. Not bad at all.
Though I forgot how tart sweet tarts are as I haven't had any real candy in a while as I am on a D.I.E.t.  Fun times at 10pm at night, reading other blogs and making faces due to the tartness.

This weekend I picked up some sample paints at the ReStore place, if you haven't gone... GO NOW. $2 for Sherwin Williams Paint to go jars. Bigger than sample paint and I think it is usually $7 a jar at the store. But the formulas are on the side and you can still get it made.

Ok... back to the paint colors. I am desperate to find the perfect blue gray or light blue for my bathroom. Horrible at making those decisions!!! Just ask my family... and I rarely take their suggestions on paint color. And of course I didn't open any of the paints at the ReStore place. I depended on the bad lighting and other people eying the same colors.

Picked up the following:

Halcyon Green - Tradewind - Lemon Twist - Spun Sugar - Languid Blue -
Two others I already had on hand were Blue Silk and A beautiful French Gray that I got in Lowe's Oops paint.
OK.. go ahead and laugh.. we did... See this is what happens when I can decide!

And that is what you get. Sorry about the horrible lighting.
Yes, Lizard and I laughed too. See the smiley face, our thoughts on that paint color.
The flesh color is the Spun sugar... WHY PEOPLE? WHY? Last I looked spun sugar doesn't look like peachy flesh of my grandma!
SOOOooo... I am guessing I am going to chose between the Tradewind and Blue Silk.

In other news I did get to change out the builder grade mirror in my bathroom to this!
Yes, I know it isn't centered... at the mercy of the wall studs. That mirror is HEAVY! Woodbriar by Drexel. Work in progress here though. Still need to get rid of those Hollywood lights.

Until next time
Hugs
