A little Competition!

Sooo.. One saturday, rainy, yucky lazy day it was. Lizard and I decided to craft.

I need to make some flowers, hair bands, barrettes and such for a fundraiser for Alley Cats and Angels. If any of you locals want o donate, let me know!

Anyway, I decided to show Lizard how to make a rolled felt flower, since she refused to do the rosettes.
(Love you Liz!! I know you are reading this)

Here are mine!

Cute. Lizard came up with using the two colors.
 Here are hers!

I think she one up'ed me!!!
Gotta get that child a hobby ;-)

What do y'all think?

trying to get the mojo back

Hello my dears,

In a valiant attempt to try to get my mojo back, I got my self settled into my craft room for the day yesterday.
After crying a bit at all the remembrance and writing my short story yesterday, I decided to put up the baby gate, bring the cats in the room with me, turn on the TV and get to work.

Mack asked me to make a flower a few weeks ago when she was visiting. I finally got around to it. If you follow me on Twitter or on Facebook You can see the picture that I sent from my Instragram account.

Then I watched the season Finale of a couple of shows that I DVR'ed. Gotta love that.

I did get a new wreath done. A la all the rolled felt flowers out there. I have never made something so easy.
Just cut a circle, cut a spiral out of that circle and roll it. EASY! How to Girl has a great tutorial.  Though I start at the center of my circle for the rolling it turned out just fine.

Hope you all are having a GREAT monday ;-)

10 years

Hello my dears,

10 years ago today we were all glued to our televisions living the horror that everyone around the world was feeling.  I was leaving class listening to the radio when I heard that the first plane had hit the tower. We all thought it was a joke, until the flames were coming out of the building. Racing home and running in the door yelling to my husband what had happened. He didn't believe me, as I turned on the Today show to listen to Katie Couric speak about what was happening.
10 years ago, I remember thinking, go get the kids, and drive as far away as possible.
10 years ago, I was still married to my first husband. I was in college. I wasn't happy with my life.
10 years ago, I was trying to get out but with 2 children, no money it was a hard decision.

It didn't happen.

9 years ago, I was in a car accident that made me think about my life and realize I was not happy. Time to get out.

Of course, we must never and can never forget the horror that happened. The pain of the victims. The pain and heart-wrenching silence when the towers fell.
My way of dealing with this was to remember my Military training, patriotism and trusting in myself.

Never forget.

Favicon!

Hello my dears,
Sorry for the absences. I have not been too motivated to do anything once I get home. It is the beginning of the semester here at the college, so it is busy, busy time of the year. Which means I am tired. Then home to do homework with the Monkey Man. Do you know how hard it is to get a 7 year old boy to sit still to do math sheets, spelling and reading, then chores and you can't forget a snack when you get home. Which means my day begins at 5am and ends somewhere area 7pm. By then I am tired and don't want to do anything, much less get on the computer or behind a sewing machine.

I had a free moment today to do a quick tutorial on a favicon. What is a Favicon you ask? Favicons are the small 16 pixel by 16 pixel pictures you see beside some URLs in your browser’s address bar.
The easiest and simplest way to do one is through a generator. It takes your favorite picture and shrinks it down to size.

Find your favorite picture. Preferably one that goes with your blog.

Then Go to http://www.favicon.co.uk/
You can find multiple pages of already created favicons, but I prefer to have one that I like or did.

Follow the directions to create it. Make a note of where you downloaded the favicon.

Go back to Blogger, go to the Design and Click on Edit at the top of your elements

Upload your favicon and Save.

Preview and make sure you can see your favicon in a browser.

that is all for now!
