bathroom window treatment

Hello my dears,

How is everyone's Wednesday?

I hope it is good!

I have been looking through my posting looking for a wreath that I made at the beginning of the year, but I can't find it. So here it is! The Master bathroom window treatment.

This is what the window looked like before I decided that it need to be dressed up some more.

Supplies:
5 - 1 inch roll of ribbon ( cut into 9 - 10 inch strips)
1 - foam wreath
coordinating t-shirt material for the rosettes
1 strip 15 inches of ribbon for hanging

This was a bit time consuming to make.
You have to cut a LOT of strips of ribbon. And don't mind the looks that your hubby will give you when you are making this. I got so weird looks. Tie each strip around the wreath with a double knot.
You have to push the ribbons together on the wreath to make it fuller.
Once that is done, you then get to decorate it. I choose to use rosettes. Choose your own tutorial for that as there are so many great ones out there.
Then use your 15 inch piece of Ribbon to hang it in your favorite place.

Have Fun!

Feeling Lucky??

Hello my dears,
http://www.ohiouprssa.org/2009/02/what-not-to-wear-interview-apparel.html
It is monday morning at 1023am and I have already seen people that make me wonder if they are still teaching how to dress and act for interview success. Who doesn't show up without a pen, a notepad and dress nicely??? Don't show up in a sundress and sandals. I don't care how hot it is outside. AND definitely do not show up in jeans!!
Sorry for the rant... just erks me. You come to an interview dressed for success, enthusiastic and ready for what ever lame job you are applying for.

OK... OK... ON to bigger and better things. Are you feeling lucky?? I know I am... ;-)  ok. I wish I am lucky at this one.

Miss Karly over at "Buns in my oven" is doing a fabulous giveaway!

Who wants to win a $100 Gift Certificate to Best Buy??
I know I do!! How about you? What’s your dream appliance? Leave a comment telling her what kind of fancy futuristic appliances you’d like to see and you could win a $100 Best Buy gift card!

I just want a fridge that cleans up after those spills that little ones make trying to be big boys and spill the chicken juice or the tea or thinking the jello is done.

Go!! Click on the Samsung 4-Door LCD Refrigerator above to go over to Karly's blog.

Happy Sunday and a footstool

Hello my dears,

Hope you all are having a happy Sunday. It was a lazy day around here. Went to the NC Fair Grounds today as it wasn't has hot as it has been all week. It was only 96 instead of 100+ (hahaha).
We got there around 11am and people were packing up already. All our favorite outdoor vendors were already gone. OH well.
I did get to try some microwaveable pork skins. They were actually good. As any good southern should know, pork skins are greasy, layered in fat, salt and SOOOOO not good for you. These had 65% less fat! 33% Less Sodium!  32 mg Less Cholesterol! 40 Less Calories! Still not good for you, but better. ;-)

The day just got lazier from there until I told myself to get up and finish that footstool that you started painting last week.

I posted a picture on Facebook last night as I was working on it. So don't forget to the like the page, you may be missing out on some postings.

So I finished it today.

What do you think? The color a good match for the chair?
Marley seems to like what I have done. ;-)

Just don't mind the blue walls those will be taken care of soon.

Hugs!
Cherie

lazy... just maybe

Hello my dears,

Having a good Thursday? Tis good... tis good!

Did I ever tell you that my oven broke a couple of months ago. Well it did. Heating the oven, the element blew... literally. I can still use the stovetop and the broiler, but I haven't been able to bake anything in like two months.
Starting to get to the point where I am getting creative with dinners or using the grill a lot.
Did you know that you can cook french fries under the broiler? You have to set the rack low... but you can do it. And you get crispier french fries!
Now you ask, why haven't I fix it? Sheer laziness? Maybe. Part too expensive? Nah... only $40 Busy? well work from 0630 - 1430 monday thru friday, 25 minute drive to MonkeyMan's school to pick him up at 3:45. Carpool is ALWAYS SLOW! Closest parts store is 12 miles from house and closes daily at 5. I think it may be a time thing. But I seriously need to get it done. Especially after I saw this blog:

Can we say a collective YUM?

Guess I will need to take half a day before the semester starts back up.

Jaxie

Hello my dears,

Hope all of you are doing well.

I on the other hand have been truly concerned for my kitty.

So picture this; Sleeping the good Saturday morning sleep.  You know the kind where you think you are suppose to be up, but realize you can sleep in because it is Saturday. Dozing, not quite sleeping, but just comfy and dozing. just falling back to sleep when BAM! you are awaken to wet feet. OK WHY ARE MY FEET WET?
Wrestle yourself out of the cocoon you have made for yourself and realize that your dear, sweet lovable Jax just peed on your bed. Not just a little bit, but a lot, soaking your feet through a duvet cover, comforter and a sheet.  And it smells! Strong!
Not a good thing at 6:30am!
Only thing to do was throw a towel on the bed, because HandsomeMan was still sleeping and who am I to wake him because my cat peed on my side of the bed. ;-) then take a shower.

Jax proceeded to hide for most of the day, only coming out of the closet (HA) to nibble on some food and get some water.
I don't think I even hear him scratching litter anywhere in the house. I have 3 litter boxes with 3 - 7 cats at any given moment.
Sunday I had a busy, busy day. Mother in laws, cleaning, and making the curtains for my room. Didn't even realize that my companion for most of my projects wasn't around until I went to look for him around 5.

I found him in the closet, on top of my laptop bag. Red ears, warm to the touch and cowering when I went near him.
I scooped him up and took him to the office to sit so I could get a look at him.
Looking him over I saw that his ears when crusty. There were crusties in his eyes and he didn't seem to want to put any pressure on his paws.
Looking at his paws, I saw they were gray around the claws and pads. When I tried to get the mess off, I almost got bit. Jax never bites. NEVER. love bug. Something was wrong.

Lizard and I decided that Jax's paws needed to be washed to see what was under the gray stuff.
Not a fun experience. Really Have you ever given a kitty a bath, even a cat that loves knocking over water bottles, cups and dishes. He just looked at me like "Why? Mommy? Why are you doing this?"
One soft toothbrush and dial soap later, most of the gray stuff off. Thank goodness!
Pads are a bit raw. but he can walk again.

Into the isolation kennel he went until Vet visit scheduled for next day. Clean Litter, clean water and food.
Can you see how red his ears are?

Vet said Poor Jax has a bacterial infection. Cause - Unknown.  Risk to other kitties - None.
One ear ointment, one steriod, one antibiotic 2x a day for 2 weeks. FUN for me when I get up at 5am but I love my kitty.

Hopefully soon, my baby Jax will be better and back to his loving self. I miss my cuddle bug with fur flying in my face or a tail whipping my head.

Keep my baby Jax in your thoughts.
Hugs,
Cherie

New Curtains

Hello my dears,

Sorry I have been MIA lately. Just too much going on with Mack moving in with her Dad.
Between work, sunburn and moving furniture into the sewing room it has been a rough couple of weeks.

I did get some curtains done for my bedroom today.

Aren't they pretty?

Easy peasey too!

First buy a couple of flat sheets from Walmart. I think they are $5. Walmart had the only gray in the right tone that I was looking for.
Then measure a fold about 6 inches from the bottom. Takes a bit of time to get it right as the edges weren't lining up correctly.
The measure 3 inches on that same fold. I used a chalk pencil to create a sewing line as I can't sew straight unless it is a 1/4 inch seam.

That pretty detail on the side is paint. Just find your self a nice stencil. Michael's had these on sale for like $2. and there are a bunch of them in the pack.

I didn't mark how far down or how much space in between each stencil, just eyeballed it. Lucky for me I was able to get 10 stencils down the side of each panel.

My bedding is purple.
Want to see?

HA! thought you were going to get to see my room and bed. Not until it is all done!

Hugs,

Cherie

Got Magnets...

Hello my dears,

Hope that you all have had a great holiday weekend.
I know I did!

Went to the beach, got too much sun, had too much fun. Hair is lighter and wavery from it. There is no taming it now. It is a HOT MESS.

Got to love web cams.

On a higher note, I found out that I won a giveaway from Pretty Handy girl  Which is pretty awesome. And she lives in the same area as me. WOOT so I don't have to wait for the mail to get my prize. We are going to meet for coffee or dessert. I actually get to meet a fellow blogger, how cool is that?

So, on to the crafty side. I know I have been very crafty lately. Too much going on. The girls father came back from a 2 year stint overseas, so they are with him for the next 2 weeks. Mack has decided to move in with her Dad, lets just say I am not very happy, but she made this decision on her own. And I get a craft room out of the deal. I know that sounds horrible. But what else am I going to do with the extra bedroom for the rest of the time.

I did get bored and make some magnets, you know the ones you have been seeing all over blogland made out of the clear vase pebbles.

With some scraps of fabric, mod-podge, hot glue and some strips of magnets. EASY. Next time though I will use round magnets. This is not fun when you have to cut round edges on the 1/2 inch pieces of magnets.
They don't hold up much, but they sure are cute!

P.S. Don't forget to like the facebook page. I am up to 20 likes so far!
